Homes -இல்லங்கள்
The Hindu Board of Education runs three Children’s Homes two at Thirunelvely and one at Urumpirai. These hones provide Shelter, Food, Clothing, Healthcare, Education, Recreation and Vocational Training to about 200 children from northern Sri Lanka.
Almost all the children are from families affected by war. Some of them have lost either one or both parents; some are from broken families; still others are below the poverty line. They are all needy.

சைவ வித்தியா விருத்திச் சங்கம் நிர்வகிக்கும் இல்லங்கள் இலங்கையில் மிகப் பெரியவை. வட இலங்கையைச் சோ்ந்த ஆதரவற்ற 200 பிள்ளைகளுக்கு உணவு, உடை, உறையுள், சுகாதார வசதி, கல்வி, தொழிற்பயிற்சி, பொழுதுபோக்கு வசதி ஆகியன வழங்கப்படுகின்றன.
இப்பிள்ளைகள் பெரும்பாலானோர் போராற் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட குடும்பங்களைச் சோ்ந்தவா்கள். பெற்றோர் இருவரையுமோ, ஒருவரையோ இழந்தவா்கள். சிலா் பிரிந்த குடும்பங்களிலிருந்து வந்தவா்கள். சிலா் வறுமைக் கோட்டுக்குக் கீழ் உள்ளவா்கள்.

சங்கத்தின் 3 சிறுவர் இல்லங்கள் தனித்தனியாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள முகாமைத்துவ சபைகளினால் சங்கத்தின் மேற்பார்வையில் நிருவகிக்கப்படுகின்றன
”உரும்பிராயில்” கருணை இல்லம் (பெண்கள் ) என 3 இல்லங்களும் இயங்கி வருகின்றன.

Children’s Homes Managed by Saiva Vidya Viruthi Association (Hindu Board of Education)
The Children’s Homes managed by the Saiva Vidya Viruthi Association are among the largest residential care institutions in Sri Lanka. These homes provide comprehensive care and support to approximately 200 vulnerable children from Northern Sri Lanka, including nutritious food, clothing, shelter, healthcare facilities, education, vocational training, and recreational activities.
A majority of these children come from families affected by the prolonged conflict in Sri Lanka. Some have lost one or both parents, while others come from separated families or families living below the poverty line. These children are provided with a safe, caring, and supportive environment to continue their education and develop their skills for a better future.

- Boys: 06 – 18 years
- Girls: 06 – 18 years
Admission Approval Authorities
Children are admitted based on recommendations and approvals from:
- Courts
- Divisional Secretariats
- Child Probation and Child Care Services Officers
The three Children’s Homes are managed by separate Management Committees appointed for each institution under the supervision and guidance of the Hindu Board of Education.
Our Children’s Homes
Under the management of the Hindu Board of Education, three Child Development Centres are currently operating:
1. Saiva Children’s Home (Boys)
Thirunelvely, Kalasala Road, Jaffna
2. Saiva Children’s Home (Girls)
Thirunelvely, Kalasala Road, Jaffna
3. Karunai Illam (Girls)
Urumpirai, Jaffna
These homes provide care and protection for children who have lost their parents, come from vulnerable family backgrounds, or are referred through the Department of Probation and Child Care Services.
Approximately 200 children are currently receiving residential care, education, nutrition, healthcare, skill development, and opportunities for personal growth.
